One of the most notable upcoming events for Canadian hockey supporters is the 2026 NHL Heritage Classic, scheduled for October 25 at Princess Auto Stadium in Winnipeg. The outdoor game will feature the Winnipeg Jets against the Montreal Canadiens, bringing regular-season competition into a setting more commonly associated with Canadian football. Outdoor games have become an established part of the NHL calendar, combining competitive hockey with events that acknowledge the sport’s historical connection to outdoor winter recreation.

As the regular season progresses, attention will increasingly turn to how Canadian clubs respond to the additional games and changing demands of the schedule. Early-season performances offer an initial indication of team form, although they do not necessarily predict final standings or playoff results. With a longer campaign, established rivalries and major events still ahead, the opening weeks provide the foundation for another season of professional hockey across Canada.
